Expressive Light
Reflection: The photo I chose to write a reflection about is photo three. This photo shows the light coming from below. I shot the photo from straight on. I didn’t use a reflector, but the umbrella she has as a prop acts as part of a light reflector in a way at the top of her head. My magazine was People’s Magazine which featured us as a new upcoming film that is a must see called Rain. Her world is coming apart it seems in her gloomy hometown where the weather is never sunny. She soons realizes that she can only shield herself physically from the extra struggles she faces (with the umbrella) but not mentally or emotionally. She must face those things instead of shielding them. I picked this photo because there’s a clear range of values where you can see what’s very dark (right below her neck) and what’s very light in the photo(the letters on her shirt and her the side of her cheek). I also think the strong shadow on her face makes the photo very dramatic. Her facial features are more emphasized due to the light coming from below.
